Consideration of the amendments to the Labor Code in the Office of IIA PDF Print E-mail

On 19 July, 2013, was held review of amendments to the Labor Code in the office of IIA, organized by International Investors Association. The meeting was conducted by the Legal adviser of IIA, International Legal Expert, partner of "JMK Legal Consalting" Mr. Gia Kavtaradze. There were invited association member companies and the Head of Ajara Government Investment Policy Department, Mr. Jemal Beridze. At the meeting were discussed and explained following amendments to the Labor Code: what procedures are needed in the case  of hiring an employee or  dismissal, for probation period. Also discussed the terms of the agreement, rate of working hours, overtime, holidays and about the payment concerning with these issues. Association in the near future will send request to the Prime Minister on behalf of the Membership in Trilateral Commission of Social Partnership, which was established at the initiative of the government.

Ltd. "Ajara Textile" was founded in 2008 in Kobuleti district. The village Bobokvati, in Kobuleti, from the Soviet period is preserved at the base of the tea factory. Having close relations with the Republic of Turkey, the tax system and customs system played a significant role in the decision-making process. The initial investment of 4 million U.S. dollars was invested by the end of 2012 increased to $ 6 million. In 2012, the "Ajara Textile" – paid 1.5 million lari tax. For this stage Ltd. "Ajara Textiles"   produces sports and Life style garments of brands Puma, Adidas, Lotto and Erima. "Ajara Textile" manufactured the sports clothes of such outstanding teams as: Glasgow rangers, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United, Espanyol, Stuttgart, Feyenoord, Italy Football Team, Koln FC, StadeTreillierain, Olympiakos, Lisbon Sporting. In 2009, in Kobuleti  "Ajara Textile"  started its activity with 75 employees. In 2010, the number of employees was overestimated 300 people. The annual production of "Ajara Textile" is 3 million units of shorts and T-shirts and currently 698 people are employed in the factory. In 2011, was decided expansion of "Ajara Textile" in the settlement of Queen Tamara, where was begun a factory construction. In 2012, there worked 370 people. Nowadays there are made 1.5 million units of shorts and T-shirts in a year. The factory employs 519 people. Totally 4.5 million pieces production. Since 2008 in Ltd. "Ajara Textile"   has been employed more than 1200 people. Till now, Georgia had not been approved by the company Nike as its possible potential producer. For 2 years were going negotiations with Georgia and confirmed by Nike 15 days ago. Because of this there been a need to enlarge of the factory in the settlement of the King Tamara District. This factory will employee 1200 person in total. The factory will be opened in expanded form in early 2014. In total two factories, number of employees will be reached 2400.investment will be 10 million USD production capacity will be 10 million pieces.

On June 26, 2013 was held the local and regional media meeting in Kars, Turkey that was attended by the Secretary General of International Investors Association, Mr. Osman Chalishkan. He acquainted the audience about tourism and investment current condition and potential of Ajara and whole Georgia. It was featured video. The present guests were also given the tourist and investment brochures. In his speech Secretary General of IIA underlined that Georgia with its geographic location is very important for the neighbor countries, because in terms of land in Transcaucasia it is profitable transit country. During the Conference Mr. Chalishkan offered  the organizers, after that was decided the 25th local and regional media meeting will take place in Georgia, Batumi.

On 24 June, 2013, in Tbilisi was held the meeting of businessmen and representatives of government, organized by Georgian Employer’s Association. The main topic for discussion was the adoption of amendments to the Labor Code of Georgia. The meeting was attended by Deputy of the Minister of Justice, Deputy of the Minister of Labor, Health and Social Protection, the Vice President of Georgian Employer’s Association, representatives of business sector, the Chairman of International Investors Association and the Secretary General of IIA. There was discussed the issues about the several services for employers, their participation in negotiations of trade union, collaboration with social partners. After introductory, meeting changed into the kind of question and answers.

 
Visit of Businessmen of World Turkish Business Council Eurasia Region Committee in IIA PDF Print E-mail

On 20 June, 2013 IIA was visited by 11 businessmen delegation of World Turkish Business Council Eurasia Region Committee. Distinguished guests were welcomed by the chairman of International Investors Association, Mr. Jemal Bilgingulluoglu and Secretary General Mr. Osman Chalishkan. The meetings organized by the World Turkish Business Council Eurasia Region Committee has been held in several countries of Eurasia. In the list Georgia was the 5th. The businessmen hold the meetings with governmental bodies and large associations. The members of the business council are among of leading business representatives of business sector in Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. At the meeting were discussed the issues of co-operation between Georgia and representatives of Foreign Economic Relations Board in Russia and Ukraine and to sign the memorandums.
