Georgia-Turkey Trade and Investment Bridge-a two-day business forum was opened on June 15 at Holiday Inn hotel. The event was attended by around 100 representatives from Georgian and Turkish business sectors, also by International Investors Association. Dimitri Gvindadze, the Minister of Finance of Georgia and Levent Murat Burhan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Georgia, delivered opening speeches. Kakha Baindurashvili, the President of Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), attended the forum.The aim of the Trade and Investment Bridge business forum was to provide a venue for Turkish and Georgian business representatives to network with professionals from specific industry sectors and identify potential partners from both countries as well as learn about the business and investment environments.The first day of the forum was focused on presentations and B2B discussions, and the second day covered site visits with potential partners, and additional discussions.Representatives from the agriculture and food processing, construction materials, consulting, tourism and hospitality, ICT, packaging and transport & logistics sectors participated in the Trade and Investment Bridge business forum. Companies benefited from a series of B2B meetings.Georgia-Turkey Trade and Investment Bridge business forum was supported by the UNDP Black Sea Trade and InvestmentPromotion programme in cooperation with the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the USAID Economic Prosperity Initiative (EPI), and the Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists of Turkey (TUSKON).

 

 
Batumi International Airport hosts the first flight from Europe PDF Print E-mail

The first Charter flight has arrived from Europe in Batumi International Airport. The passengers were welcomed by the Representatives of TAV Georgia- The Operating Company of Batumi and Tbilisi International Airports and the Tourism Department of Ajara. The flights will be performed once a week, on Thursdays, in the coming months including September. For the entire period of summer, along with the tourist season, we expect the dramatic increase of flights in Batumi International Airport. Apart from the air-company OLT Express, other air-companies as well, such as: Sibir S7, ATA Airlines, Pegasus and Armavia will fly to Batumi during the summer.

On June 15, 2012 in Hotel Sheraton Batumi, Batumi- Antalya Business Forum was held.In the conference the member companies of “DÖSİAD” Doshemealti Industrialists and Businessmen Association of Antalya participated. As for Georgia, it was represented by Government of Autonomous Republic of Ajara with private business sector. The Turkish delegation was consisted of 40 people. The businessmen were working in economy, agriculture, construction, tourism and textile sectors. Their goal is to invest in Georgia and to find business partners. Presentation and bilateral meetings were held during the conference. Turkish companies had opportunities to talk with potential business partners and government representatives according to the relevant sector.The conference was organized by the International Investors Association and supported by Government of Autonomous Republic of Ajara ,  Ajara A.R. Ministry of Finance and Economy, Ajara A.R. Ministry of Agriculture, Ajara Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Department and Batumi Invest Agency.

On June 8, 2012 at the hotel “Radisson Blu” was held the joint conference organized by the Businessmen Association of Anatoly “Askon” and the Ajara Ministry of Finance and Economy. The co-organizer of the meeting was International Investors Association.Getting acquainted with the investment environment and deepening of entrepreneurs relations were the main purposes of the conference.Georgian businessmen informed the guests with the business-environment and investment opportunities of the region. Turkish businessmen were interested in the investment in tourism, economy and agriculture spheres.The bilateral meetings were held with the representatives of some companies.

Business Association Anatolian Lions or ASKON joins businessmen and entrepreneurs. Its members are handling an approximate amount of 2,5 billion dollars of capital. Besides, they are employing around 125 thousand people.

International Conference held in Tbilisi PDF Print E-mail

On May 28, 2012 the 4th ICC Regional Meeting (RCG) for Broader Middle East - North Africa (B-MENA) arranged by ICC-Georgia was held at the Radisson Blue Iveria Hote, in Tbilisi.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of 14 countries - the Chairmen and Secretary Generals of the following National Committees, as well as high ranking Executives from ICC Head Quarters in Paris and London.

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri delivered a speech at the meeting.

The guests got acquainted with the attractive investment environment in Georgia.

Besides, it is important that International Investors Association of Georgia also attended the conference. The presentation about Ajara was made for the guests and the booklets were given to the participants.

Within the meeting, Georgian Chamber of Trade and Commerce signed cooperation agreements with three Arab states - Dubai, Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Sharjah.

In near future, International Chamber  of Commerce plans to organize the conference in Istanbul, the International Investors Association will be involved in the event.

 

 
Graduates of Textile Products Specialty Awarded Certificates PDF Print E-mail

The Chairman of Ajara AR Government Levan Varshalomidze, along with the Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Ajara Gia Abuladze has awarded 8 graduates of textile products specialty from the Vocational College Black Sea, who have already been employed at AJARA TEXTILE. 

„This is a good example of government and private agencies’ work together. We have taken responsibility to repair the building where the college is located, processed training programs based on market requirements while private investors facilitated their employment. Tailors needed 3-year training to master in the Soviet period. Now it is possible for several months only, that provides opportunity for employment in extremely short period of time”, said Levan Varshalomidze. 

Memorandum of Cooperation between Vocational College Black Sea and Ltd AJARA TEXTILE was signed in February 15, 2012. The college has taken responsibility to train 60 specialists of textile products within the short term program.


Out of 388 students at the college, 32 study on textile products specialty.

Izmir-Batumi Business Forum was held in Sheraton Batumi on may 3, 2012. The forum was organized by International Investors Association Georgia and Izmir Chamber of Commerce with the support of Ajara Government, Ministry of Finance and Economy, Department of Tourism and Ministry of Agriculture. The conference was attended by 90 company representative of Izmir Chamber of Commerce. 53 of them took part in B2B meetings. Georgian side was represented by approximately 50 company representative invited by IIA Georgia, Ministry of Finance and Economy, Department of Tourism and Ministry of Agricultur. The conference was opened with  Ajara A.R. Chairman - Mr. Levan Varshalomidze's speech. Turkish consulate in Batumi, Izmir Chamber of Commerce Chairman  and  Ajara Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman also delivered speeches. Videos depicting  Adjara and Batumi was shown at the forum. Batumi Investment Agency made a presentation. Investment and economic potential of Ajara were introduced to the guests. After the conference, bilateral meetings were held on the tables divided into 5 different sectors: Tourism, agriculture, Investors Association and the Chamber of Commerce, construction and free economic zone. The sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation. The parties also agreed on the expansion of cooperation areas.
