On July 12, 2011, in Batumi, was held the seminar on- “Tax-Customs issues for investors and Public officials” in Hotel “ERA Palace”. The aim of the seminar was to introduce the businessmen, investors and entrepreneurs theregulations and simplified customs procedures at Adlia Customs Economic Zone. The Seminar was attended by the representatives of International Investors Association and various businessmen in Adjara region.

On July 8, 2011, Chairman of the Government of Adjara Mr. Levan Varshalomidze met with the representatives of IIA member companies. The main purpose of Government of Adjara is the promotion of investors’ activities and support of establishment of successful business, which is the guarantee of economic prosperity of Georgia-, noted Mr. Varshalomidze. Chairman of Government of Adjara also called investors to be more active. The important issues were discussed at the meeting, including the initiative of Businessmen delegation from Adana (Turkey) concerning the implementation of investments in the field of agriculture. The construction of International Financial Center and Agribusiness Center in Batumi City were discussed at the meeting as well. Mr. Levan Varshalomidze regularly holds meetings at International Investors Association.

On July 4, 2011 International Investors Association of Georgia was visited by the guests from Izmir, Turkey, including the journalists of different TV channels. The guests got acquainted with business environment of Adjara, construction sector; received information about IIA’s activity and its members. The information concerningInternational Investors Association of Georgia will be published via mass media. The guests expressed willingness to establish a company in Batumi which will organize various cultural events.

On June 24, 2011, the representative of National Bank of Georgia visited IIA. The main goal of his visit was to get information on the structure of IIA and its member companies. In addition, the representative of National Bank organized outreach meetings with IIA member companies where he presented the project of National Bank which is centered on the activity promotion of international investors in Georgia.

On June 24 of the current year, the representatives of the joint project “Economic Prosperity Initiative” of USAID and Deloitte visited International Investors Association of Georgia. The main goal of their visit was to get full information about textile sector. Meetings were also held with textile member companies of International Investors Association where the guests got acquainted with the work process, received the information from the investors about advantages and disadvantages of investing in textile sector of Georgia, about the qualification of the workers, production volume and so on. USAID representatives presented their project concerning Textile Industry development in Georgia.

On June 17, 2011, IIA was visited by 18 people delegation of Chamber of Commerce of Kahramanmaras (Turkey). The aim of the visit of Businessmen was to get acquainted with Business environment of Adjara Region and the meeting with local businessmen. Guests were interested in the development of fishery and agriculture. The guests got acquainted with the structure and main activity of IIA and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation with the association.
