On August 23 of the current year, International investors Association of Georgia was visited by Mr. CemilOzturk, the Project Coordinator of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Urfa, Turkey. The fields of interest of the businessmen of Urfa Chamber of Commerce and Industry are:greenhouse industry,production of irrigation system, food, harvesting equipment, wheat manufacturing, veterinary vaccines and biological substance, special medical products and porcelain. The visit of Urfa Chamber of Commerce and Industry members in Batumi and meeting with the representatives of International Investors Association member companies was planned for the next month.

On August 18 of the current year, an introductory tour to Sarpi Customs, Adlia Customs Clearance Zone and Batumi Justice House for businessmen and public servants was organized by the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Ajara. Tour participants including the member companies’ representatives of International Investors Association of Georgia got acquainted with the procedures which private person or businessman must go through: clearance procedures for goods, important information regarding the registration of estate, housing, notarial documents, citizenship, passport, visa, pastille acquisition and other important issues. Theoretical seminar on the same topic was held a month ago. Seeing customs and tax procedures with their own eyes was the further practical stage.

In October, the reconstruction of Sputnik Hotel Batumi will be begun. Georgian and Turkish architects are working on the project. The Hotel was purchased by the “Delta Georgia Company” for 3.5 million USD in February of the current year. According to the information of HairullahGunal, the General Director of “Delta Georgia”, a two-story VIP hotel, casino, disco bar and health SPA fitness center will be added to “Sputnik” complex. The investment of 2-3 million USD will be implemented in total. “We can say that it will be the only complex in Batumi where families, teenagers and businessmen can relax and have fun”- was quoted as saying by HairullahGunal. There are 59 rooms in the complex which cost 100-280 Gel. Besides, there are 4 restaurants, conference hall, 2 bars and a swimming pool in the Hotel.

On July 12, 2011, in Batumi, was held the seminar on- “Tax-Customs issues for investors and Public officials” in Hotel “ERA Palace”. The aim of the seminar was to introduce the businessmen, investors and entrepreneurs theregulations and simplified customs procedures at Adlia Customs Economic Zone. The Seminar was attended by the representatives of International Investors Association and various businessmen in Adjara region.
