On May 10 of current year, International Investors Association of Georgia hosted the representative of Career Centre of Georgia (CSG) project manager Dr. Irma Tsereteli and the project coordinator of Tourism Association of Adjara (ATA) Mr. Zviad Diasamidze. At the meeting with General Secretary of International Investors Association of Georgia Mr. Tamaz Shavadze were discussed the opportunities of developing and deepening of future relationship. CSG successfully implements the project which is developed with the initiative of Economical Partnership and Development Ministry of Germany (BMZ), the project considers the employing of professional staff returned to homeland from Germany.

On May of current year was held meeting of Board of Management, where have been discussed the following s issues:

1.     The results of discussed problems on the meeting with the head of Autonomous Republic of Adjara Mr. Levan Varshalomidze and the head of Investing Political department Mr. Zaza Gumberidze;  

2.     To organize supper for Association members, the potential candidate members and the representatives from the government;

3.     To strengthen combined forces to get new association members;

4.     The situation of the membership payments;

5.     To exclude “Doruk Nut and Food Company” from the membership;

6.     The information concerning the discount agreement with Sheraton;

7.    The issue concerning Tuberculosis hospital, as they asked for support;

8.    To make a decision on GPI Insurance Company’s membership;

9.    To make a decision on “Ortsva LTD” company’s membership;

10.  Information concerning Association employees and bonus issue;

11.  Other issues.

The meeting attended members of management board.

The two days forum organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of Adjara with title - "Demonstration of the new technologies in agricultural sector" opened in Intourist Palace Hotel. In bounds of the forum the interested persons will be informed about modern technologies in poultry farming, fish processing complexes and nursery thrift.
The Chairman of Government of Adjara opened the conference and wished success to the participants. 

The representatives of 12 companies from Ukraine, Netherlands, Latvia and Germany are participating in the conference as well as local farmers and businessmen. 
The goal of the forum is to give the chance for presentation of innovations, exchange of information and getting into new contacts between foreign and local businessmen operated in sphere of agriculture. 

 
National Service of Food Safety, Veterinary and Plant Protection commences to issue permissions to import products subordinated to veterinary and sanitary control.. PDF Print E-mail

It is already possible to issue permission on import of products of vegetation origin subordinated to sanitary control in the National Service of Food Safety, Veterinary and Plant Protection.According to the statement of Levan Varshalomidze this will save time and finances of Entrepreneurs. "Before this time importers, businessmen, farmers working in agricultural sphere needed to go to Tbilisi or Poti to receive above mentioned certificate, but already they will receive the certificate in Batumi", - the Chairman of the government of Adjara noted. The Chairman of the government of Autonomous Republic of Adjara gave himself first certificate to the head of farmers' house.

Meeting of Levan Varshalomidze and members of the government was hold in state office. According to the statement of the chairman of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara all the problems related to the region were solved at the meeting. As he noted basic problems existed concerning signing documents and certification. Besides, as Levan Varshalomidze mentioned, meeting with central Authority will be held once in a quarter.

"We discussed problematic issues at the meeting. Decision has been made that population and entrepreneurs of Adjara will not need to come to Tbilisi for certain documents. There were certain issues concerning certification. For instance, local entrepreneur needed permissions from Tbilisi in order to export mandarin and to acquire permission for establishing enterprise. Meetings will be constant", - Levan Varshalomidze announced.

Minister of Economic Development - Zurab Pololikashvili, Minister of Energy - Aleksandre Khetaguri, Minister of Agriculture - Bakur Kvezereli, Minister of Finance - Kakha Baidurashvili, Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources - Goga Khachidze, Head of Air navigation - Giorgi Karbelshvili attended the meeting. As for members of government of Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Minister of Culture - Mate Takidze, Minister of Agriculture - Emzar Dzirkvadze, Minister of Finance - Vajha Bolkvadze, Minister of Healthcare - Levan Antadze attended the meeting.

Levan Varshalomidze raised the question concerning delegating Administrative Authority to Adjara in Briefing held several days ago.

Levan Varshalomidze has talked about delegation of administrative authority to Adjara during the briefing. The Chairman of Government of Adjara has declared that marginalizing some administrative authorities for the region will simultaneously solve several problems. "It will simplify the service and will create a base for making more effective decisions at the place", - Levan Varshalomidze announced. Levan Varshalomidze also has noted at the briefing that this particular affair concerns the appointment of the heads of the public schools in Adjara, also issuing of certificates to farmers and other technical sort of questions about which minister cabinet of Adjara is not able to make any decision independently. "I would like to underline that we demand not more autonomy, but more opportunities for realizing our autonomous rights better", -Levan Varshalomidze announced. The Chairman of Government addressed the central government to consider this question on the extraordinary meeting

On 1st of April 2010 "International Investors Association" hosted the meeting of the representatives of construction firms operating in Adjara and SGS Group which is one of the world's leaders in certification and testing in the field of construction,  The Chairman of the International Investors Association Jemal Bilgiogulouglu and the general Director Tamaz Shavadze were also participating in the meeting. SGS Group was founded in 1878 in France and their headquarters is location currently in Jeneva and its representatives are spread all over the world.  SGS Group provides its services to Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia though Istanbul office in Turkey and in the future plans to open its representation in Batumi.  SGS Group offers to its future partners the full package of services  that include: effective planning of construction works, effective use of recourses, tender management, contract management, international certification, etc. After the end of the presentation the representatives of the construction companies have the opportunity to discuss the issues they were interested in.

Zurab Pololikashvili - Minister of Georgian Economic Development and Levan Varshalomidze - Chairman of Government of Autonomous Republic of Adjara have met members of International Investors Association of Georgia. Talks have been related to future plans.
Levan Varshalomidze talked about existing investment environment in Adjara. With the help of Government of Autonomous Republic of Adjara a branch of Georgian Investment Agency Centre will be opened in Batumi.
Zurab Pololikashvili put emphasis on the project that he plans to carry out in the nearest future. Minister offered member businessmen of association to get involved in the project.
Experimental project aims at letting those Georgian businessmen who live outside Georgian border to make investments in their homeland.

On March 18, 2010 was held seminar of International Finance Corporation (IFC) with cooperation of International Investors Association seminar on Managing Business in Turbulent environment. Seminar was opened by IFC representative in Georgia Tomas Lubeki and The head of the international Investors association Cemal Bingingulluoglu. ”Association members are operating in different fields and in this crisis situation it will be helpful for them to get some directions and recommendations. I hope businessmen will get a lot of interesting information from this seminar” – declared Cemal Bilgingulluoglu.IFC Seminar was devoted to issues on business adaptation to new environment: were discussed instruments, based on experience of modern companies and leading expert’s recommendations. The direction of the Seminar was as an informative instruction for small business representatives. There were discussed practical examples, situation analysis, question-answer, and sharing experience between participants. Before seminar all participants got batch of materials. Seminar were attending people from the cabinet of the head of the Government, Ministry of Agriculture, Health Ministry, Ministry of Finance and Economy, International Investors Association members, general consul of Ukraine and representatives of small business. Seminar instructor Aleksandr Mertens explained company’s crisis situation and gave examples from many countries. At the end of the seminar guests had a chance to ask questions, introduce their own problematic issues and views, and received some valuable advices on how minimize costs and manage risks.

On march 12th of 2010, at the International Investors Association office was held a meeting between Association members and head of investment politics department of Adjarian government Mr. Zaza Gumberidze. The meeting was dedicated to the issues, which were stated by the Association Management Board on a meeting with Chairman of Government on February 25th of a current year. Mr. Zaza Gumberidze has introduced working results to Investors, which are directed on solving problems and to create a better investment ambience.
