On July 9-10, 2015 at Sheraton hotel in Batumi Sakpatenti in cooperation with ICC Georgia and GIZ PSD SC  held a conference on the enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) to further enhance and develop the IP enforcement mechanisms in Georgia. As the first event of this type in Georgia, the conference will promote and raise public awareness on intellectual property rights, identify public-private sector cooperation areas and opportunities, link various stakeholders. The conference was target a wide array of stakeholders, including: Private companies; Law firms; Government institutions; Enterprise Georgia and GITA; Members of the IP Enforcement Coordination Body; Representatives of the Georgian Bar Association and Business Associations; Judges; Exporters to Georgia; Importers from Georgia; International organizations; International Investors association of  Georgia. Topics that was following:

- Global Intellectual Property Insights and Initiatives;

- The Status of Intellectual Property and Enforcement in Georgia;

- International Examples and Best Practices in Intellectual Property;

- Calculation of Damages (lost profits, profit accounting, hypothetical licensing);

- Provisional Measures/Legislative Measures;

- Border Measures;

- Internal Market Investigation/Experience/Recommendations for Private Sector;

- Panel Discussions for Further Development of IP in Georgia.

The protection of intellectual property is a pivotal requirement for sustainable private sector development. In the light of Georgia’s integration into European market it is crucial to share and discuss the relevant EU and international standards and best practices in the field of Intellectual Property Enforcement.

Humanitarian Assistance that was gathered in Ajara Region was sent to Tbilisi PDF Print E-mail

Humanitarian assistance that was gathered in Ajara region under organization of Government of Ajara, Batumi City Hall and International Investors Association of Georgia was sent to Tbilisi for the families affected by disaster. International Investors Association of Georgia and its member companies helped people who are in natural disasters and 200 hundred boxes with food, T-shirts, Bed linens and personal hygiene items was sent to Tbilisi by the name of Association. ( “Ajara Textile” 300 units of T-Shirts, “BTM Textile“ 1600 different kinds of clothes, like Bed linens, Towels, socks, Underwear, T-shirts ).  In addition 3 tons of rice and 200 units of sport clothes were sent to the capital. And Items that were gathered by the population in 13 administrative units have been also sent.  At the given stage 60 000 GEL is gathered, 100 000 GEL is planned to the transferred.

On 19th of June, 2015, at the office of International Investors Association of Georgia was held the meeting, Representatives of Employment Agency met with representatives of public and private sector. Mariam Bezarashvili talked about those target programs that the Agency implemented during 2015 year. International Investors Association of Georgia and Ajara employment agency signed memorandum of cooperation about three years ago. Dozens of people are employed by the members of International Investors Association of Georgia. Victims of Tbilisi tragedy were commemorated with minute of silence at the meeting.

 
ICC-Georgia General Assembly elects two Board members, a Vice-Chairman and mobilizes itself to assist the victims of the flood PDF Print E-mail

On 15 June 2015, ICC Georgia held a General Assembly at Betsy’s Hotel to elect two members of the Executive Board and a Vice-Chairman/Treasurer. The General Assembly also approved the nomination of Ambassador Zurab Katchkatchishvili as Secretary General of the organization. Five candidates were running for the two vacant seats on the Board. Following the vote, the two elected candidates are: Ms. Nona Mamulashvili, Corporate Affairs Manager at Philip Morris Georgia LLC, and Mr. Osman Chalishkan-Mjavanadze Director of Geonet Expo Ltd. and Secretary General of the International Investors Association of Georgia. The General Assembly elected as well Mr. Nikoloz Mchedlishvili - Vice-President of Petrocas Energy as Vice-Chairman and Treasurer of the organization. The General Assembly addressed the issue of the victims of the recent flood and unanimously decided that members of ICC Georgia will put together their efforts to raise funds for the citizens who suffered from the disaster but also to secure jobs for those of them who are left without resources or income.  “We welcome the newly elected Board Members and are glad to see new blood on our Board, both Nona Mamulashvili and Osman Mjavanadze will bring a great added value to the activities of ICC; I strongly commend the solidarity and sense of responsibility expressed by all ICC members who are mobilizing themselves to raise funds and secure jobs to all those affected by the flood” said Fady Asly Chairman of the Board. ICC Georgia is the largest and most vocal global Business Association in the country; it includes over 350 corporate and youth members and 28 business associations. The International Chamber of Commerce is the largest business organization in the world that includes over 6.5 million businesses and chambers of commerce. ICC consults regularly at the global level with the G8, G20, the World Bank, WTO, WCO and the UN.
