The Investment Forum "Istanbul-Batumi", organized by the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Ajara Autonomous Republic, was opened today in Istanbul at the conference hall of the local Chamber of Commerce. It was attended by over 120 participants. Investment Forum was organized with the support and cooperation of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, Consulate of Georgia to the Republic of Turkey, The International Investors Association and Ajara Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The forum was also attended by the leading Turkish investors, representatives of various large companies and other senior officials. Representatives of the Government of Ajara A.R. held bilateral meetings with investors and discuss their future business plans related to Batumi.  With special presentation, the representative of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Ajara A.R. introduced forum participants with the investment potential of Ajara region, objects of privatization and regulation of starting/doing a business in Georgia. The forum guests were also invited to watch promotional-investment video clip about Ajara region. Representative of Department of Tourism and Resorts of Ajara also made a presentation about the tourism opportunities of the region. In the framework of the forum, Georgian and Turkish private companies, representing in particular construction, tourism and logistics sectors, took a part in the B2B meetings where they shared their experiences in doing business in respective countries and set future plans of mutual cooperation.  Business-forum “Istanbul- Batumi” may be held under initiative of Turkey side in May. Before that 200 –members delegation may visit Ajara. Information about return visit became known during meeting with head of Chamber of Commerce of Turkey. Archil Khabadze has informed the h host side with economic and investment potential of the region. Prospects of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway was also discussed. Head of the region declared that Ajara region must become famous and successful not only from the tourist point of view and hotel business, but as transit region. Mr. Osman Chalishkan ( Mjavanadze) The Secretary General of International Investors Association and its Member companies representatives also attended Istanbul-Batumi Business forum, they made presentations  about the investment projects which are  implemented and  planned in the nearest future, they also held B2B meetings with large -scale investors of Turkey and representatives of various companies.

The First Regional panel of the Diaspora Economic Forum – Diaspora Financial Inclusion and Revolutionary Innovations, started by the presentations of the foreign participating guests. Nina Matiashvili, Chief Adviser to the State Minister moderated the panel. Leon Isaac, Head of “Developing Markets Associates” made a presentation of emerging Diaspora revive markets in various countries. Constance Tzioumis, Director for Partnerships, Secretary’s office for Global Partnerships, US State Department spoke about development of public, private and partner organizations. Itsik Moshe, President of Israel-Georgia Chamber of Commerce made a presentation of Israeli experience and diaspora bonds. He drew parallels between Georgian and Hebrew Diasporas residing abroad, their attitude towards the motherland. The Chief Marketing Officer of “Homestrings” company Rubelyn Alcántara made a presentation on diaspora bonds and investment portfolios on the online basis. Ilyana Derilova, Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Georgia, closed the first panel. She talked about the growth of migration in the world and its role, as well as on diaspora investment vehicles focusing on the promotion in their homeland.  Secretary General of International Investors Association of Georgia Osman Chalishkan ( Mjavanadze)  made a Presentation on “Diaspora Investment Projects in Georgia”. The Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Diaspora Issues as the regional partner of the International Diaspora Engagement Alliance (IdEA) is holding the Diaspora Week. It aims to engage Georgian diaspora representatives in the ongoing processes and the challenges in Georgia. On October 13, at the exhibition center “Expo Georgia”, by opening the “Diaspora Economic Regional Forum” the Diaspora Week started. The Forum was addressed by the members of Georgian Government, Heads of the international organizations, as well as the newly appointed US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary H.E. Mr. Ian Kelly. The Forum aims presenting the new diaspora intellectual and financial service programs by partner organizations, as well as sharing of the diaspora investment projects by the Business Councils and Chambers of Commerce abroad, the innovative development of mechanisms for strengthening the diaspora investments in the region, engaging the diaspora for active participation in the processes at homeland, unite the people around the common goals and needs.

Sewing room is opened in “Tana” PDF Print E-mail

Sewing room was opened in the rehabilitation center “Tana”. In the frames of health care program, professional tailors together with teachers of the center will study handiworks to lonely mothers during 10-15 days. The program is implementing by Ajara Health Care Ministry and Georgian International Investors Association. Rehabilitation center for persons with disabilities “Tana“   was given 5 sewing machine by Initiative of BTM Textile which is member company of Association.  Repair-rehabilitation works and full equipping of the center of persons with disabilities started in 2013 year by Tbilisi coordination office of “TIKA” by Initiative of IIA and on the basis of appeal of Ajara Health Care Ministry. The building of the center has been transferred by Ajara government to “Tana” for free 10 years usage. At the given stage 150 persons will get inclusive education and skill which necessary for employment.
